Avraham (Baiga) Shochat - Chairman, Board of Trustees
Mr. Shochat has, within six years, served twice as Israel's Minister of Finance and as its Minister of National Infrastructures. In a long career of public service, Mr. Shochat has done much to bolster and develop this country's more peripheral regions - the Negev and the Galilee, most notably as Mayor of Arad where, over 22 years, he spearheaded major expansion and development. During almost two decades in which he was a member of the Knesset, Mr. Shochat chaired several of the Knesset's committees, among them the Finance Committee and its Economic Affairs Committee. He currently sits on the boards of several leading Israeli companies. For his years of public service, Mr. Shochat was awarded an honorary degree from both the Technion and Ben Gurion University.

Professor Dan Levanon - Chairman, Executive Committee
Currently serving as the Chief Scientist for the Ministry of Agriculture,
Professor Levanon is also a research scientist at the Volcani Agricultural
Center and the Migal Technological Center in the Upper Galilee. Professor
Levanon holds B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Faculty of Agriculture at
Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and his research interests are: Recycling
(mainly composting) organic wastes and by-products; Chemical and biological
aspects of water quality; Bioremediation of polluted soil and water; and
Cultivation of edible mushrooms. |

Professor Yona Chen - President
Professor Yona Chen is the new President of the College, replacing Professor Zeki Berk who completed his term this fall. Professor Chen is an expert of international standing in the field of agriculture; he has conducted groundbreaking research on environmentally-friendly methods of farming, including innovative use of recycled materials and advanced methods of irrigation. Professor Chen is a member of the Faculty of Agriculture at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and has taught in numerous institutions in the U.S. and Europe. |

Professor Shmuel Shamai - Vice President, Academic Affairs
Professor Shmuel Shamai has been a faculty member at Tel Hai College since 1995, and is affiliated with the Departments of Education and Social Work. He received his BA and MA degrees from the University of Haifa and his PhD from the University of Toronto. Professor Shamai's research interests encompass Sociology, Education, Critical Education and Curriculum, Ethnicity, Children at Risk, Russian Immigration, Druze Education, Gender and Education and Behavioral Geography, and he has published extensively in the academic press. |

Amnon Leshem, PhD. - Vice President, External Relations & Development
As the liaison between Tel Hai College and its friends and supporters worldwide, Amnon Leshem leads the College's extensive resource development activities. Amnon's academic field of study is history, with a B.A degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, an M.A. from the Albert Ludwigs University in Germany, and a PhD. from the University of Chicago. Before returning to Israel and joining the staff of Tel Hai, he held educational, marketing and managerial positions in a number of American institutions, including Northwestern University, Central Florida College, Temple University, and the Career Education Corporation.

Yossi Malka - Managing Director
Native of Kiryat Shemona, Yossi Malka has a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from Haifa University and a Master's degree in Public Administration and Policy from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Before joining the management of Tel Hai he was Managing Director of AKIM - the National Association for the Habilitation of the Mentally Handicapped in Israel, Head of the Local Council of Tzoran in the Sharon region in central Israel, a senior consultant to the then Minister of Education, Yossi Sarid, and Director of the Education Department in the Kiryat Shemona Municipality.

Dr. Tziona Grossmark Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
Dr. Tziona Grossmark is a senior lecturer in the College's Department of Multi-Disciplinary Studies. Her research interest is Jewish history of the late Roman and Byzantine periods (Mishna and Talmud). She has published several papers focusing on life in the Talmudic period. Her current research looks at various aspects of traveling as reflected in Talmudic literature.

Professor Snait Tamir Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology
Professor Snait Tamir's fields of research and teaching encompass Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Nutrition Sciences. Her studies and publications include groundbreaking work on the study of breast cancer. Professor Tamir directs the human health and nutritional science laboratory at MIGAL, the Galilee Technological Center.

Professor Rachel Amir Chairperson of the Department of Environmental Sciences
In addition to lecturing at Tel Hai, Professor Rachel Amir is a research scientist at MIGAL, the Galilee Technological Center and chairs its laboratory of plant science. Professor Amir's research interests are metabolism and regulation of amino acids in plants; with a particular focus on identification of bioactive compounds and metabolic networks in pomegranate fruits.

Dr. Arnon A. Bar -On Chairperson of the Department of Human Services
Dr. Arnon Bar-On is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at Tel Hai, a Senior Teaching Fellow at Haifa University and an Associate Professor at the University of Botswana. His research delves into the relationship between multicultural societies and social work, including a focus on Arab-Jewish relations in Israel. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Bar-On serves as a supervisor for senior community workers in the Haifa Municipality. Previously, he served as an advisor to the Prime Minister's Commission on Social Welfare Resource Allocation.

Dr. Paula Belinki Chairperson of the Department of Food Sciences
Dr. Paula Belinki has lectured at Tel Hai since 1998, mainly in the field of chemistry. In addition, she chairs the environmental biotechnology laboratory at MIGAL, the Galilee Technological Center. Her research focuses on the mechanism of enzyme production by the white rot fungus. Dr. Belinki is also director of research and development in Rakuto Biotechnologies, Ltd., Yokneam, a company that develops enzyme-based cosmetic products.

Professor Gad Degani Chairperson of the M.Sc. Program in Biotechnology
In addition to his position at Tel Hai, Professor Gad Degani chairs the academic staff at MIGAL, the Galilee Technological Center. His main field of research is zoology, studying the ecology, physiology and endocrinology of fish and amphibians, environmental effects on animals in danger of extinction, and fish nutrition, production and growth. He is a member of Israel's Zoology, Environment and Ecology Societies, and the Societies of Aquaculture, Endocrinology, and the Study of Amphibian and Reptiles.

Professor Gideon (Gidi) Gross Chairperson of the Department of Biotechnology
Professor Gidi Gross is Associate Professor of Biotechnology, having lectured at Tel Hai since 1995. He is a member of the Israel Immunology Society and director of the immunology laboratory at MIGAL, the Galilee Technological Center. His primary area of research is the development of new genetic approaches for the immunotherapy of human diseases.

Dr. Shira Hantman Chairperson of the Department of Social Work
Dr. Shira Hantman has over forty years' expertise in the field of gerontology. She chairs several committees in the field including the Gerontology Accreditation Committee at Israel's National Association of Social Workers and is a member of the Advisory Committee to the Minister of Pensioners' Affairs. Dr. Hantman is the author of the book "The Sandwich Generation" and has published extensively in the field of gerontology, specifically on the topics such as intergenerational relationships, trauma, Holocaust survivors, aging and forgiveness.

Dr. Karen Jackson Chairperson of the Department of Nutritional Sciences
Dr. Karen Jackson is a senior lecturer in the Departments of Food Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Biotechnology at Tel Hai, teaching courses in histology and human and animal physiology. She is also involved in research at MIGAL, the Galilee Technological Center, focusing on endocrinology of reproduction and growth in fish and amphibians.

Dr. Shaul Kimhi Chairperson of the Department of Psychology
Dr. Shaul Kimhi is Associate Professor of Psychology at Tel Hai and has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching. His widely published research studies kibbutz society as well as the psychological aspects of the Middle East conflict. In addition to his academic work, he is an active clinical psychologist, specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorder, trauma and stress, and in the use of hypnosis. He also serves as an advisor and lecturer to the national security system regarding political psychology issues.

Dr. Danny Kotlar Chairperson of the Department of Computer Sciences
Dr. Danny Kotlar lectures on a variety of subjects, including Logic for Computer Science, Introduction to Cryptology, and Algorithms in Computational Biology. His research in Bioinformatics forms a bridge between the fields of computer science and biology, focusing on the protein-coding regions in DNA strings of an organism.

Dr. Doron Lavee Chairperson of the Department of Economics and Management
In addition to his position at Tel Hai, Dr. Doron Lavee lectures at the Federman School of Public Policy and Government at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. One of his main fields of research is environmental economics, and he has advised on the subject to the Ministry of Environmental Protection as well as to a number of non-governmental organizations. Parallel to his academic work Dr. Lavee is general manager and partner in Pareto Engineering Ltd., where he specializes in strategic analysis.

Professor Michael (Iggy) Litaor Chairperson of the Department of Multi-Disciplinary Studies
Professor Michael Litaor describes himself as an avid outdoorsman who has converted his lifetime passion into an academic career, focusing on geological and environmental sciences. He is a member of the Agricultural, Crop Science and Soil Science Societies of America, and the Israel Society of Ecology and Environmental Sciences. His research focuses on climate change, agriculture, and water and soil conditions in the Galilee and the greater Mediterranean regions.

Dr. Yair Seltenreich Chairperson of the Department of Education
Dr. Yair Seltenreich is Assistant Professor at Tel Hai and also lectures at the Center for the Study of European Politics and Society at Ben Gurion University. Dr. Seltenreich specializes in social history and history of mentalities. His research in recent years concentrates on cultural aspects of local societies in the Galilee, Southern Lebanon and Southern Syria during the first half of the Twentieth Century.

Dr. Shimon Spiro Chairperson of the M.A. Program, the Department of Social Work
In addition to his position at Tel Hai, Dr. Shimon Spiro is Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Tel Aviv University, and has lectured in leading universities around the world. Dr. Spiro was chief editor of the Society and Welfare journal, and served on several professional organizations, including the Israeli and International Associations of Schools of Social Work. He co-edited the book "Evaluating the Welfare State: Social and Political Perspectives." His research encompasses a large range of subjects, particularly youth at risk, homelessness, and post-trauma.
