At its recent meeting, Israel's Council for Higher Education approved the planned Biotechnology Masters Program at Tel Hai College. Due to be launched this coming academic year, the program will add significantly to the current offerings of the Department of Biotechnology, allowing Galilean students to attend accredited graduate courses in the Upper Galilee, and is therefore expected to be fully subscribed.
Approval of this graduate program constitutes an enormous vote of approval from the Council for Higher Education in Tel Hai's academic standards.
The program itself will include two separate tracks, the first a thesis track designed for graduate students interested in becoming doctoral candidates, and the second, planned with students wishing to pursue a career in industry and education in mind, will emphasize practical research and not require that students write a thesis.
The new masters program at Tel Hai is the result of the considerable and fruitful collaboration between the College and MIGAL- Galilee Technology Center where Tel Hai's faculty conduct their research, and where the graduate students will do so to.
The approximate cost of tuition, stipend and research for a graduate student in biotechnology will stand at approximately 15,000 dollars per student per annum, a sum that requires the College to raise a new kind of scholarship for its students. An example of support of this program is the David Friedman Foundation which rose to the challenge of partnering the College in this important endeavor. |
