Professor Haim Goren, Chairperson of the Research Authority of Tel Hai Academic College, reports on an admirable accomplishment of the Authority and of the College's researchers. The British Council, linked to the British Consulate in Israel, has initiated a joint research project between researchers from Tel Hai and researchers from British universities and colleges. The British Council has provided the funding for the project. Tel Hai faculty-members were invited to suggest research proposals and seek British academic partners. Ten members of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of Sciences and Technology presented proposals, and three were selected.
"The research proposals underwent an academic review process by international experts, led by a committee from the British Council," says Professor Goren. "After evaluation and discussion, the committee chose the proposal of Dr. Mordo Shalom from the Department of Computer Sciences, on the subject of "Coloring Problems in Graphs in Optic Networks" for first place. Chosen for second place was the proposal of Dr. Shira Hantman from the Department of Social Work, "A New Teaching Method of Social Work with the Elderly: Inclusion of Clients." The third place went to Dr. Eli Gimon from the Department of Economics and Management, for his proposal "Entrepreneurship in the Periphery."
According to Professor Goren, Tel Hai is the only academic institution in Israel taking part in this project. Though the British Council runs general programs for all institutions of higher learning in the country, only Tel Hai was selected for the joint research initiative.
